Women’s “Rights”

Just in case anyone was keeping score, the Women’s “Rights” movement has done more to devalue women than anything else in modern history.  

When modern media portrays stay-at-home-moms as Peggy Bundy-esque sluggards who are too shallow or uneducated to do anything more than sit on the couch and eat bonbons all day…..The Bible describes a keeper of the home as the most industrious person in the home.  She is the first one up-not to just get the kids off to school but to provide for the needy, strengthen her arms, make money.  The woman from Proverbs is an investor, a philanthropist, a craftsman.

The women’s liberation movement says that women have the “right” to dress like prostitutes and sleep around with strangers.  While the Bible tells a woman that her body is something so valuable it should only be shared with someone willing to devote their life to her.

In the impending election cycle politicians will be telling us all about how women aren’t really free until they can murder their unborn children, who might ruin an otherwise happy life and career.  All the while ignoring the fact that women are blessed with the empathy, patience and love to care for children like no one else could.  It’s not a burden.  It’s a blessing and a gift.

While society tells us that the Biblical view of marriage is outdated and chauvinistic, what the Bible actually teaches is that women should be in submission to their husbands….who are told to love their wives as much as Christ loved the church.  So much so that they’d be willing to die for their wives.  The husbands who are told to put the needs of their wives ahead of their own.  Husbands who are told that if they don’t strive to understand their wives and honor them as sisters in Christ that God will cease to hear their prayers.

The “old-fashioned” way of thinking considered a selfish, wanton and even murderous woman as something to be pitied and avoided, not admired.  But now that women are “free”, apparently they can live a conceited life visibly indistinguishable from a common street walker.

Congratulations to the Women’s Rights movement, I guess you’ve succeeded?
